JOSH IS GETTING BAPTIZED !!! :)

This week was wonderful!! :) Let me start off with a miracle:

On Monday we had a fun P-day. One of my zone leaders and another
sister knows all the words to "The Bells of Notre Dame" from the
Hunchback of Notre Dame. They sang the entire thing and I was bawling
laughing! That wasn't the miracle haha that night we met with Josh at
an AWESOME members home. We didn't plan a lesson plan or anything and
the discussion ended up being centered on baptism. Between the couple
and Sister Herpich and I we were all sharing scriptures and testifying
of baptism and membership in the church. This amazing couple bore 2 of
truly the most beautiful testimonies I have heard before. Towards the
end of the lesson it was starting to wind down and out of nowhere he
says, "K, let's do it." We all look at him and say "what?" And he
explains, "The baptism lets do it. Something told me 5 minutes ago I
should do it so lets do it." The husband that was there and I were
crying. The room filled with the spirit. It was testified to us that
what he had just agreed to was truth and would bless him. Since that
night his mind has been clearer and he has felt a little weight lifted
off. We had another lesson with him which went great and he prayed for
the first time in front of us. Again the spirit flooded the room when
he spoke to Heavenly Father. He is moving to California in about a
month and I have no doubt he will bless lives of people there that he
meets and he will share the amazing message of the Atonement. He is
getting baptized this Saturday and he will have a huge turn out. The
ward loves him! The ward members are trying to convince him to not
move haha absolute miracle to been blessed with the opportunity to
teach him.

Another miracle is this sweet woman who was being taught by sisters in
Portland but she lives in our ward boundaries. She knows Christ is her
Savior and desires to be baptized very much! She is so very kind and
we are grateful to have met her as well :)

I guess I will go through the days again

Tuesday: we visited Geraldine who we love :) we visited quite a few
people. We went to the addiction recovery program with some people we
are teaching. I love that program!! It is the atonement 101. I highly
recommend all people to look into it. It not only changes behavior but
changes character. I see how the atonement can shape me more into the
person the father intended me to become.

Wednesday: we had a lot of visits which is awesome! We had a miracle
Wednesday night. We had a visit with an active family. The
grandparents showed up out of nowhere and they are converts and they
told their story of how they became members of the church. They told
us "Don't quit; pray." It was exactly what I needed to hear. I will
say that often because I know The Lord sets us up for success.

Thursday: one thing that was awesome on Thursday was when we stopped
by a part member families house. They are an older couple and the
husband is not a member. He is Sierra Birch in guy form :) we got
along SO well! We were laughing and talking about all sorts of things.
He wants us to come back ASAP and hopefully he will want to keep
learning about the church! Miracle :)

Friday: we just had weekly planning and visits :)

Saturday: we had an oober fun relief society party! You know Waffle
Love? Well a member knows how to make those Belgian waffles and so she
bought a ton of strawberries and Nutella and whipped cream. They were
delicious! And another member is a professional flower woman so she
makes corsages so she taught us how to make them to give us to our
father or whoever. Daddy, I did make you one but it would have wilted
and stunk by the time it got to you. But know I picked a red one for
Utah ;) I burnt my finger really good! It is deep and kind of cool
looking :) we had dinner at one of my favorite families of my life
house. I hope I have a marriage like this couple have: 100% centered
on the gospel and to supporting each other and their kids. They are
extremely happy and their kids love the gospel and their Savior.
That's living the dream :) we had an amazing lesson with a less active
member. She has had a 180 degree change in her countenance about the
church. She knows it is true and she bore a beautiful testimony of the
atonement. We love her!!

Sunday: church was great as always! We had lessons during the
afternoon and those all went very well. We had dinner with another
family who is an amazing couple!! Man, this ward is full of prime
examples of gospel centered families. I can't imagine having anything
else. I got to talk with Brooke :) I love Brooke haha

The biggest thing I learned this week is the importance and value of a
testimony. It is so vital that we have a firm testimony and trust in our prophet
and his apostles. They are ordained of God and are the mouthpiece for
The Lord. If we are in question of what they are sharing with us, we
need to be the ones to study and pray to come to an understanding of
why those things are instituted. The church  is lead by Christ himself. I know this is
true and I will never change that because it has been confirmed to me
by the Holy Spirit. I am here as a missionary to invite others to feel
this as well. So I invite everyone who is reading this to do the same.

I love you all!! I hope everyone is enjoying their June :)

Love always,
Sister Sierra Birch

10 Months. Cray Cray :)

Heya!!

Crazy I have been out for 10 months now. Time is starting to fly. I
have 5 transfers left and it is even crazier that at the end of this
transfer I will be out for a year! I am so grateful for my mission :)

So transfers are this week and Sister Herpich and I are in the clear!
We are both staying and we get to celebrate our birthdays together! :)
we were both born on July 7th, but I am a 93 baby and she is 94. How
cool right?! :) we are living with a couple who is phenomenal! I love
them :) their home is beautiful. They eat really healthy. I am excited to learn from them. Things are just great:)

This week is a blur. It is llloooonnnngggg. Long long long. I will
split it up by days.

Monday: P-day! We walked around town, bought some way cute skirts at
Goodwill, took Sister Herpich to Starbucks for her first time, and had
dinner with Jeff and Sheree. They are adorable! They bought pizza and
we got frozen custard for dessert. It was a lot of fun :) we had a few
member visits and we met with Josh. He is still doing awesome. Reading
like crazy and taking in everything.

Tuesday: we had district meeting and those are always fun :) our
district is doing really well and we all get along great! We tried
contracting people for a good chunk of the day. We met with Rose who
is less active. We visit her twice a week and we are going to start
exercising with her. The poor woman is so sick, she said exercise
would help. So Sister Herpich and I will buy some weights today and be
her support group :) we met with members and had great discussions. We
attended the addiction recovery program (ARP) that the church provides
for free for all people to attend and over come addictions by learning
how to utilize the atonement. The meeting was powerful and very
beneficial for me. Even though I don't have any addictions to drugs or
alcohol or anything similar to that, there are places in my life I do
not put God first when I know I should. Everyone can always be better
and this is what that program teaches. It's wonderful :)

Wednesday: we had visits all day :) at night I got to Skype Jade
Fielder. I love that guy! He is awesome :) I hadn't laughed that hard
in a long time!

Thursday: we had visits all day again (which is awesome). We met with
a fella that night named John. He has come to church the past few
weeks and wanted to meet with us for the first time. He is planned to
be baptized on June 21st :) it is exciting! Very exciting, complete
miracle. Also, a companionship of sisters in Portland called us and
said one of their investigators who is getting baptized the first week
of July moved into our ward. She is a darling woman! Again, another
complete miracle :) We also met with Josh, again another great lesson!
We are meeting with him tonight with a family in the ward for F.H.E :)

Friday: WE WENT TO THE TEMPLE!! :) I love the temple!!! I will go as
often as I possibly can when I get back home. I love the feeling and
the revelations receive when I am there. We rode with a member and her
daughter in another ward with our district leader and his companion.
We also went to Deseret Book and I bought "The Infinite Atonement" as
an early birthday gift. I have heard that book is amazing! We had a
ward party that night that was a BBQ and line dancing. It was a huge
success and it was a blast!! :) I have missed dancing I realized haha

Saturday: We moved into our new home and we love it :) we got to go to
a meeting with about 2/3 of our mission to listen to Elder Car, a 70,
and Brother Ridd, the general young men's second councilor. It was
such a good meeting! The messages they shared were great :) and it was
great to see a lot of the missionaries I love! We are like a huge
family; I love it :) we had more appointments and I got to Skype
Brooke :) I love my family! I am grateful we get to talk about the
gospel to each other. She is an amazing woman.

Sunday: Church was great as always! I love this ward. Our day was full
of appointments (a busy schedule is the best). We have a new
investigator named Gary. He is studying a ton and has some of the best
questions. I wouldn't be surprised if he got baptized this year :) we
had a baptism for 2 children in the ward and we were asked to share a
brief message about the Restoration during it.

All In all, our week was so good! We grew and learned a ton! I love my
mission :)
I love you all! Sister Sierra Birch :)

Heya!

This week to start out was really sad week. A sister missionary in the
mission passed away on Tuesday. I am not sure if any of you saw the
posts on Facebook, but it has taken a big toll on our mission. I
personally did not know her well, but many of the sisters did because
they served with her so I am doing fine, but losing someone is never
easy. She passed away from a tooth infection. I cannot imagine the
stress and pain her family is feeling. When someone passes away we are
sad for those who they left behind, but we know that person is in a
better place. I hope her family is receiving as much comfort as they
possibly can. I also hope that President and Sister Taylor are
receiving comfort as well. They have done so much during this process.
They are an amazing couple of strength and faith.

As for the week, we had many miracles happen. Our investigator Josh is
doing amazing! He is still reading like crazy and coming to
everything. He is golden. Jeff, our recent convert, blessed the water
last week and blessed the bread this week. His thick Kentucky accent
sounds awesome over the speakers! Haha he is receiving his patriarchal
blessing in the next few weeks and he received his temple recommend
yesterday as well. Also, in her next month or so they are going to
ordain him to the office of Elder! :) it is amazing! He wants to read
through Preach My Gospel and I had an extra copy. I gave it to him and
he is so excited! We are having dinner and dessert with him and his
girlfriend Sister Sheree Tanner tonight :) There were a handful of
non-members in sacrament yesterday and one of them wanted a Book of
Mormon. This story is hilarious but kind of pathetic too haha Sister
Herpich and I for some reason didn't have any on us and we could not
find a single one in the church building. The corner stone of our
religion and we can't find it! But we ran into a sweet sister in the
ward who has teenage kids. We told her and she hurried and ran home,
grabbed one of her 12 year old daughters copies that's marked up with
notes and highlights, wrote a quick testimony of where the copy came
from in the front, and that's what we gave him. So much more memorable
and cool! :)

hmmm... What else... Last week Sister Herpich and I got
stuck in a gated community and the doors wouldn't open and they were
too tall to climb over so we slid under instead, that was fun :) this
week our ward is having a BBQ and line dancing party so we are going
to dance and have a jolly good ol time! Another less active we have
been visiting has had a baptism by fire! She is loving the gospel and
she is having so many answers come to her! :)
I can't ever remember what I do during the week!! I need to keep a
journal or something.

I hope you all have a good week :)
Love me!

Happy Birthday Daddy! And Happy Memorial day! :)‏

Hi family happy memorial day I am really excited to tell you all about my week.

> This week was phenomenal it was really great
> One of the first things that we did is that we went to Tigard Oregon,
> we had an appointment and it is about 45 minutes away. We had to have
> a member of the ward drive us, so sister Eva Olsen drove us in her
> Tesla, which is a purely electric car. Sister Eva Olsen is one of my
> favorite people on this earth! We got to Tigard a little bit early, so
> we went to McDonald's to get breakfast. After we pulled out of the
> drive through, Sister Herpich tells us, "I think I'm going to throw
> up..." So we hurried and pulled over and she threw up in the parking
> lot :) then she felt fine! Hee hee. While we were in Tigard we went to
> Deseret Book to buy our investigator Mitchell his own quad. We got his
> name engraved on the front. Sister Herpich and I have wanted to do
> something like this for an investigator on our mission so we were
> really excited that we had this opportunity. We gave them to him that
> night, and he was very grateful. He read through the whole book of
> Moroni in one night! He is loving church, he's loving the lessons, and
> he went to the temple last night with our ward mission leader. We have
> an appointment with him tonight We are really excited to see what his
> thoughts and feelings were about the temple.

> A couple of weeks ago, we were tracting an apartment complex. We
> weren't getting any results until we knocked on the door of Lucy. Lucy
> is really good friends with member in our ward. They've been friends
> for about 35 years. Lucy has a lot of health problems that she is
> strong and she is amazing! Lucy asked us if we could go on walks with
> her. We absolutely love her! So on Saturday we spent quite a bit of
> time at her house with her. We went on walks, we went and got her
> Mail, and we had a wonderful discussion about the Savior. She is very
> active in another faith but her home is Christ centered. I LOVE that
> no matter what faith we all have, we all can and should love one
> another :) even if we belong to other religions, we are all brothers
> and sisters and we can accept our different beliefs! We are going to
> visit her a couple times a week.
> Another great thing that happened this week is that we got a new
> investigator named Jim. He was a referral from a former investigator,
> and he's active another faith as well. We had a really good discussion
> with him at his door and he had a lot of questions about Joseph Smith,
> the book of Mormon, and the way how we live our lives. We have another
> appointment with him this weekend, and he is really excited to read
> from the book of Mormon and to have his questions answered. We are
> really excited as well because he is a Bible scholar! He knows his
> scriptures!
> We had two in active members of our ward come to church! We love both
> of these ladies :-) both of them are making huge strides in the
> Gospel! The one hasn't come to church in about four years but wants to
> get her temple recommend back. The other has never been to the temple
> has a lot of questions in regard to the atonement so she is making
> huge strides by first off coming to sacrament meeting and secondly by
> preparing to go to the temple.
> The highlight of my week was skyping my family on Sunday night :-) it
> was great to see everybody's faces and it was an amazing opportunity
> for me to bare my testimony about Heavenly Father. It worked out
> perfect because they were celebrating my dad's birthday so I got to
> bare my testimony about fathers and Heavenly Father; it fit in perfect
> with the theme of the party. I love my daddy! :-) he's an amazing
> example of a worthy priesthood holder, a Christ centered man, and a
> father of a Christ centered home. He's an amazing role model for
> Hunter, and his work ethic is phenomenal! I look up to my dad with his
> work ethic. I know that whenever my dad is asked to do a job he will
> get it done right, and he will get it done quick :-) thanks daddy for
> everything that you've done for me!
> Jeff blessed the water for the sacrament for the first time this
> week!! I felt like a proud mom ha ha it was amazing to see him up
> there exercising the priesthood. He is already an amazing member and
> doing a ton of missionary work.
> There's a lot more that happen this week but I can't remember much of
> it so I will probably end the email here.
> Hope everybody will have a great week! I hope everybody had a
> wonderful Memorial day :-)
> Love always, Sister Sierra Birch :-)
>
> P. S. I am speaking into my iPad and it types out my email for me :-)
> how awesome right?!! That's probably why it's so long ;-) hee hee

I LOVE MY MISSION!!!

This week was amazing!!!! I can honestly say I loved everyday and
every part of the day!! Oh, so good :)

Monday- We did the normal P-day stuff; shopping, cleaning, emailing,
etc. Elder Burgess (the Caucasian one) is hilarious and awesome! He
made a blog that blind people are able to follow because he puts a
voice recording to all of his posts. I helped him with a recording and
my fake accent is perty bad haha! And he is a phenomenal piano player
and he composed his first song last week and Sister Herpich is the
solo singer for it :) it is absolutely beautiful. When we record it I
will send it to you :) we had a lesson with Mitchell that went
awesome! He is progressing really quickly and he loves the high
priests we bring to the lessons. He has a car that's called a viper. I
guess that's a really cool sports car? I don't know. He showed it to
us

Tuesday- We had district meeting and those are always fun. There are 2
sisters in our district who I adore and they took Sister Herpich and I
out to lunch. How nice right? :) that was really fun! We had lessons
all the rest of the day and all of those were great :)

Wednesday- We visited a lot of members today! It was a blast :) a
couple took us out for ice cream for $1 a scoop at Baskin Robbins. We
also had a lesson with Larry and planned his baptismal service. He is
awesome!

Thursday- We got a text from Mitchell about Adam and Eve. He was
reading through the Plan Of Salvation pamphlet during lunch and he
really liked and agreed with what we believe about them. We called him
and we had a really good discussion with him for about 20 minutes. We
were all cracking up. It was fun :) we had a lot more member visits.
We met with Elizabeth. A girl who was on date for baptism and we have
had a hard time getting a hold of her but we met with her for a minute
and we have an appointment with her Tomorrow. She is a doll! :) We had
a member visit with a single sister who is an R.M. Alright, I have
found my new example of what kind of missionary I want to end up being
like because this girl is absolutely amazing!! Oh my goodness she is
hilarious! I was laughing so hard the entire hour we were there. She
told us all about her mission and Sister Herpich and I are
implementing a lot of the things that she did because it worked really
good (and we have already seen miracles because of those things! :)

Friday- We had a study with our zone leaders and the sisters that took
us out to lunch. That was really, really informative and beneficial.
the R.S. president and her husband had us over for lunch and that was
fun! We met with an inactive couple ego are so sweet! They said that
we came at the perfect time and that they loved our "bubbly
personalities." She came to church on Sunday too! :) We had dinner
with a family and that we went and visited a less active lady and she had
a non member friend over and he used to be a professor. We had a
really good discussion about history and different religions. We all
left happy and spiritually fed :)

Saturday- We met with a recent convert and she is one wonderful woman!
She is sharing the gospel with everyone as much as she can! And she is
gorgeous! I would steal all of her clothes if I could haha we attended
2 baptisms. A non member friend came to the first one and both
Mitchell and Larry came to the second one and they both loved it!

Sunday- Larry and Mitchell both came to all 3 hours and loved it too
:) I really love these guys! They are the best! We had a handful of
less active people in attendance as well. We taught all of the young
women the third hour and they wanted us to just talk about us. It was
fun :) we did a ton of paper work and got a new investigator. He
investigated the church about 4 years ago so we gave him a call mad he
would like missionaries to come back over! :) we had member visits the
rest of the night. Great news!! A family in the ward has been talking
to a non member friend and her daughter and they invited them over for
F.H.E. and dinner tonight and the friends wanted us to come over and
share a message!! Ah!! :) we are so excited!! :)

Do you know what is the main reason that I loved this week? We didn't
tract a single minute of the week!! I HATE TRACTING. And we didn't do
it at all :) Sister Herpich loves to tract but I think it is stupid
and awkward. Haha :)

I hope everyone is doing great! I hope the weather is beautiful and
warm :) I love you all!

Love, Seester Birch

I totally forgot to add this to my email! Larry's baptism is this
Saturday!!! :) I am so excited!! This is the first baptism I have
attended of someone who I have taught :)

HAPPY EASTER :) !!

Hello All!

This week was a beautiful week here in Eastern Vancouver Washington! It has been sun shiney and when it rained it poured. It was so fun! :) when it was pouring it was so loud I couldn't hear Sister Herpich talk haha :)

So I got sick this week for a few days. There is something floating around the mission. It is a mega cold to say the least. But we got to try some fun things to help heal me that the members have heard of. For example: to relief a cough they said to put Vicks on the bottom of my feet and put on a nice pair of socks and my cough would be gone in minutes. I think it worked. He also had a humidifier going, plus cough drops and some eucalyptus drink but one of them worked! :) haha

Once I got feeling better we had a great week with Mitchell and Larry again. We had stake conference and they came and loved it! Elder Bussey of the 70 came and spoke and he had a meeting before the Sunday session for all recent converts and investigators. They both loved that meeting as well. Some building conflicts happened with the 26th so Larry is getting baptized on May 3rd. He is solid. At his baptismal interview our district leader and him were cracking up the whole time. He is reading the Book of Mormon way fast and enjoys it a lot (Dad he was a firefighter/paramedic for a while too :) Mitchell is progressing really well! He told us this week that aside from buying his car, "this is the only thing that he has pursued in his life that he has stuck with that keeps him learning and he is happier the more he learns." He has been so prepared by The Lord. I cannot express my gratitude enough for this experience. The fact that Sister Herpich and I have been blessed enough to witness these men exercise faith and see them not only become happier, but they change. They were both wonderful men when we first met them. Now that their lives are centered on Christ, they are changed and they will continue to change as long as they keep this way of living. None of their growth or change or happiness is a result of Sister Herpich and I. Not by the way we teach, or our personalities, or our experiences, etc. We are simply vessels for The Lord. We are blessed to also be learning and changing in this experience. I have a firm testimony, even though I am only just shy of half of my mission, that no one, if they have their minds and heart in the right place, would ever regret serving a mission. The experiences are priceless. Learning how to better utilize the atonement is unexplainable.

Also this week was so fun! Sweet Sister Johnson (the family we live with) made us an Easter basket! :) we had lunch with one of the most amazing women I have ever met :) I hope her and I will be eternal BFFs. We ate lunch with her and her cute kiddos at Firehouse subs. So good! I really liked it. Of course when I walked in all I could think of his, "my Daddy is a fireman. I miss him." (Did your heart just melt a little dad? ;)  we have a new training called "Come and See" where we work with the members a lot more. I am not sure if they are implementing that in our mission back home or not but it is big here so we have been visiting a lot of members and there have been many miracles from it! I love spending time with members! :) it brings me much joy. Mom, Dad and Hunter, I challenge all if you to talk to at least 1 new person about the church this week. Let me know how it goes k? :) I am excited to hear!

If any of you haven't seen the Because of Him video I very strongly recommend seeing it. It is perfect for this Easter season.

I haven't done this is in a while, but I would like to share a conference talk. It is titled "The Purifying Power of Gethsemane." This is the final testimony of the beloved apostle Elder Bruce R. McConkie. He had been battling a chronic illness, I believe it was cancer, and was very ill at the time of this conference. He was so weak that they gave him a blessing prior to him talking to that we would have the strength to share his prepared message. Soon after he gave his address he passed away. I want you all to listen to the power and magnitude of his testimony. He knew this would be the last time he would speak in General Conference. He had this last time to leave a resounding message with the brothers and sisters that he served along side for years. He chose to talk about the Atonement of Jesus Christ; the center of our Heavenly Fathers plan of happiness. The most phenomenal and selfless act in history that our mortal minds cannot begin to comprehend. This message testifies of truth. I add my testimony to it that I know that Jesus Christ lives. I know he was resurrected and we will be as well. I know he is our Savior and redeemer. I love him. I desire more than anything else to know him better and to align my will to his. Part of that process is to share what I believe always through any means possible. "Share the gospel. Use words if necessary." I love all of you. I don't know who all reads these, but I do know I love you because He loves you. I desire you all to know of him and to grow closer to him because that is what he desires of us. And I promise that you will have everlasting joy and we become eligible for eternal life
I hope you all are doing wonderful! :)

Don't Forget Your P.J.'s

Hello all!

> Ok, how crazy is it that Alex is done with his mission this week? It

> Sunday: This ward is AMAZING! Our bishop is hilarious I was laughing
> through ward council the whole time. We had 3 investigators come to
> church: Larry, Mitchell and another lady who has been pretty much a
> member for 5 years her divorce is just taking a while. Church was
> wonderful and they all really enjoyed it and were spiritually fed. We
> did quite a bit of Tracting. We had a miracle happen. After dinner the
> member we ate with, who are amazing members, drove us to another
> neighborhood to try and contact her friend. When we pulled up there
> was a guy about my age walking his mastif and the dog sat down right
> next to her mini van and wouldn't move. So we hop out right there and
> start talking to him. He is actually looking for a church and has a
> lot of questions. He is way excited to meet with us. Absolute miracle
> :)

> The story behind the title is the family we ate dinner with last night
> has a cute acronym they use. Every night they say, "don't forget your
> P.J.s" which stands for prayer, journal and scriptures. So to
> everyone, "don't forget your p.j.s" :)

> We had a great week! I hope you all have a wonderful week and a
> fantastic Easter :) please remember how important this holiday is.
> Because of Christs resurrection we too will be. Because of him we are
> all promised immortality. Also because of this miracle he have the
> potential for eternal life. His resurrection is monumental and an act
> only He could complete. He broke the bonds of death for us. The cross
> is important to remember, but if that was the end, death would be the
> end for us too. We must always remember Christ is our living savior.
> He is the head of this church. He is conscious of us and loves us. We
> must always be grateful for his sacrifice.

> I love you all! :)
